United States of America cricket team captain Monank Patel has opined that the involvement of Bollywood celebrity Shah Rukh Khan will play a vital role in increasing the fan following of cricket in the country. In case you did not know, Shah Rukh’s Kolkata Knight Riders group has invested in the upcoming Major League Cricket.
The group has also tied up with the league to build a world-class stadium in Los Angeles, which might help to host the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to happen in West Indies and USA. At the moment, Florida plays host to the cricket matches in the USA. Later this year, the Indian cricket team will play two T20Is against West Indies on that ground.
Speaking about how the involvement of Shah Rukh Khan will help American cricket, Monank Patel said in an interview with Sportskeeda:
“I think definitely the fan-following is going to increase. Minor League Cricket is going on now and this is its second year in 2022. The way cricket is going right now, I think Major League Cricket is going to be really successful. Shah Rukh Khan coming and putting in a team, already the fans are very excited.”
