Chennai Super King pulled off a sensational run chase against their arch rivals Mumbai Indians yesterday and while their former captain MS Dhoni took the centre stage again, it was the South African allrounder Dwaine Pretorius who played a key role in the chase as well.
It was a slightly sticky pitch and playing shots through the line of the ball was not the easiest because of the fact that the ball was sticking into the pitch. Jasprit Bumrah was bowling yorkers and was executing them with perfection.
Dwaine Pretorius said that he wanted to play a ramp shot against Jasprit Bumrah in the 17th over of the innings because that was a scoring option against him since he was bowling yorkers, but Dhoni asked him to wait and not go for that shot in the 17th over.

Dhoni wanted to take the game deep with Pretorius and he wanted Pretorius to take risks towards the latter stages of the game. However, when Bumrah came on to bowl the 19th over again and looking at the field, Pretorius realized that he would bowl yorkers again, Pretorius told Dhoni that he would now go for the ramp shot and Dhoni approved of it.
What was good for both Pretorius and CSK was that Bumrah failed to execute his yorker off that particular delivery and it turned more into a full toss than a yorker, which Pretorius was able to ramp and once he got a good enough connection on it, it was always going to be a four with fine leg up.
MS Dhoni might have remained not out and finished the game for CSK with a 13-ball 28, but it was the 14-ball 22 knock of Pretorius as well which was extremely vital for CSK’s victory against Mumbai Indians yesterday.
