The first game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is currently taking place between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi International Stadium. The GT skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first.
It was a decent start from Gujarat as Mohammad Shami removed Devon Conway early. But after that Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad treated the crowd with terrific shots all over the ground. Rashid Khan brought his side back into the game with two quick wickets.
But Gaikwad has kept the tempo on and has played some staggering shots. In the 7th over, he smashed Pandya for two classy sixes over the covers. But the first one turned out to be controversial as the spider camera forced umpires to halt the game.
Gaikwad played a lofted drive on e pitched-up delivery that went for six. But umpires felt that the ball hit the wire of the spider camera. They checked whether it touched the spider cam cables on the way. But they didn’t any conclusive evidence as the six stayed.
