“Back in form”, Twitter reacts as Cheteshwar Pujara scores 150 on debut for Sussex in County Championship

Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara is currently playing in the County Championship. Having not earned an IPL contract and dropped recently from Team India, Pujara is on the road to a comeback. He has started well, with a century in his first game for the team. In this article, we take a look at how Twitter reacted after Cheteshwar Pujara scores 150 on debut for Sussex in County Championship.

Cheteshwar Pujara scores 150 on debut for Sussex in County Championship

Playing against Derbyshire in his debut encounter for Sussex, Pujara was out for just 6 in the first innings. It was a poor show by Sussex in the first innings and hence, they were made to follow on Derby’s first innings total of 505. In the second innings, though, the Sussex batters have been doing well. While captain Tom Haines has got a double hundred and is still batting, playing at No.4, Pujara has also got a hundred. At the end of the Tea break on Day 4, Pujara was batting at 159*. His knock has come off 336 deliveries and includes 18 boundaries. Sussex now leads by 123 runs and they are well on their way to avoiding a loss.

It is a massive confidence booster for Pujara, who was dropped from Team India for the Sri Lanka Test series. The Saurashtra cricketer also did not enjoy a great Ranji Trophy and hence, he was under pressure to deliver for himself. He has started well and if he continues, Pujara could get a chance to travel with India for the one-off Test in England later this year.
