The team owners in the T20 leagues in UAE and South Africa might be willing to offer a lot of money to the international players, but the Australian leg spinner Adam Zampa is not attracted to those competitions just yet and he has said that it can only be a long term thing for him when he gets towards the end of his international career.
Adam Zampa, who was speaking to ESPNcricinfo, insisted that as long as he is a centrally contracted Australian player, his whole focus will be on international cricket, and apart from international cricket if any other competition he would like to play in as a “bonus”, it will be the Big Bash League (BBL).
It’s been reported for the last several weeks that the IPL franchises, who have the ownership rights of the teams in the UAE and the South African league, have been offering the Australian players a big amount of money to play in those tournaments.
The reports suggested that one of Australia’s top batsmen, David Warner, even applied for a NOC from Cricket Australia (CA) to be able to take part in the league in UAE.
Adam Zampa is tilted towards his central CA contract
The premier Australian players haven’t been playing the full season of BBL for quite some time now, but now with the emergence of the new leagues and them being scheduled at the same time as BBL, Cricket Australia is quite hesitant to issue NOC to anyone while the Australian cricket season is on.
This might create a situation of conflict between the Australian board and some of their players, but Adam Zampa is completely tilted towards his central CA contract at the moment and has made it clear that the other competitions around the world don’t matter to him too much at this stage of his career when he is an established Australian player.
David Warner unlikely to play UAE T20 League to play in BBL but other Top Australian players might opt out of the Tournament because the maximum they can earn in BBL is 132,000 USD whereas UAE league offering 450,000 USD To the Top players.
