5 Players Who Could Be A Steal If The Franchise Buys Them For Less Than 5 Cr In IPL 2022 Auctions

The IPL 2022 Mega-Auctions will happen on February 12th and 13th in Bengaluru. However, that could change due to the ongoing COVID pandemic. Usually, in a mega-auction, players tend to get lesser bids because teams must concentrate on constructing the entire squad. Now that two more teams have joined the fray, a minimum of 22 more players will get an opportunity in IPL. That means that the amplitude of the bids might not be exactly very high. In this article, we take a look at five players who can be a steal if the franchise buys them for less than 5 crores in IPL 2022 Auctions.

1) Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan will be one of the hottest properties at the upcoming auctions. The Jharkhand wicket-keeper batsman was expected to join one of the new franchises. However, that did not happen. It might have been possible that Ishan would have rejected those offers as he could earn more in the auctions.

Although it is very distant, Ishan will be the steal of IPL if some franchise manages to buy him under INR 5 crores. It would be foolish of other franchises to let something of that sort happen.

2) David Warner

David Warner is one of the players who can be a steal if the franchise buys them for less than 5 crores in IPL 2022 Auctions. After the IPL 2022 retentions were named, many predicted that Ahmedabad and Lucknow would fight for David Warner’s signature. However, it seems he was never in the scheme of things.

David Warner is 35 years old and has become inconsistent with the bat. If not appointed as the captain, he would be a unidimensional player. The IPL 2022 Mega-Auctions are set to be the last mega-auction as per reports. Hence, teams would want to spend more on younger cricketers. Hence, it would not be a surprise if Warner goes for under INR 5 crores. However, considering he still adds tremendous value for two more years, his signing will be a steal.

3) Yuzvendra Chahal

Although quality Indian leg-spinners are very few in production at the moment, it is not sure if franchises will go to lengths to procure Chahal. He is experienced but has struggled with consistency at the international level.

Chahal is a slow leg-spinner and one of the main wicket-taking strategies still remains drawing the batter to play a big hit. However, the risk can be high with this tactic. Therefore, he could go for less money but due to his experience, he can be called a steal.

4) Shahrukh Khan

Shahrukh Khan is one uncapped player who is sure to trigger a bidding war. He has set his base price to INR 20 lakhs and will surely see that increase multi-fold.

However, that said, spending over INR 5 cr on an uncapped player in a mega-auction can be risky. However, if he goes under that, it will be a massive steal. He is relatively young and already boasts brilliant skills. Shahrukh will only get better from now on. Hence, it will be a wise investment.

5) Quinton de Kock

Quinton de Kock is also one of the players who can be a steal if the franchise buys them for less than 5 crores in IPL 2022 Auctions. The South African wicket-keeper was instrumental in helping Mumbai Indians win the title in 2019 and 2020.

Now that he has retired from Tests, QDK’s sole focus will be on limited-overs cricket. He is a hard-hitting opener who can play in multiple gears. Quinton is also one of the best keepers in the game. Unfortunately, though, he is not rated highly such as the likes of Jonny Bairstow. If QDK does go for under INR 5 cr, it will be a massive steal.
