5 Pacers Who Could Make Their India Debut In 2022

India’s pace attack could undergo a minor transition in the next year or so. There is also the possibility of a few new bowlers being tried out in the shorter formats. Hence, there are a few young pacers who could make their International debut in 2022. In this article, we take a look at the list of five promising pacers who could make their India debut in 2022.

1) Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan is one of the pacers who could make their India debut in 2022. In fact, Avesh should have already made his debut by now. However, he did not get an opportunity in the recent home T20I series against New Zealand. Nevertheless, it is certain that the Madhya Pradesh pacer will don the blue jersey in 2022.

In IPL 2021, Avesh was the second-highest wicket-taker with 24 scalps. He also impressed many with his economy of 7.37, despite it being the first season where he got a lot of games. Avesh did well both at the death and the powerplay. A few feel that in the long run, he will be the perfect partner for Jasprit Bumrah. Hence, he could make his debut in 2022.

2) Arshdeep Singh

In this era of match-ups and strategies in limited-overs cricket, a left-arm seam option is a requirement for any team. However, unlike most other nations, India does not have a reliable one at the moment.

Here is where Arshdeep Singh could come into the picture. The Punjab pacer has done well in IPL so far. In IPL 2021, he collected 18 wickets from 12 games. Arshdeep displayed good variations at the death and seemed to have a good temperament. With important ICC tournaments coming up, Rahul Dravid might be keen to try out the player.

3) Arzan Nagwaswalla

Like in the shorter formats, a left-arm pace option is necessary for Tests as well. Going by the recent trend of squad selections, Arzan Nagwaswalla is all set for a debut outing in 2022.

The Gujarat cricketer has had a good start to his FC career. He has already collected 67 scalps in just 18 games. Arzan has now picked up experience playing for India A as well. Hence, he might play for the senior squad next year.

4) Umran Malik

Team India has developed a liking for pace in recent years. The likes of Navdeep Saini were all tried by the management for their raw pace. Umran Malik is yet another addition to the list of fast bowlers with raw pace in the country. Despite possessing limited experience in FC cricket, the Jammu & Kashmir lad got a chance to play for India A.

Umran was also around to help Team India prepare for the T20 World Cup. Hence, it is clear that the management sees potential in him. In the short duration that he appeared in IPL 2021, Umran did look dangerous. Hence, if he puts in a few more good shows, he could get to play for India in 2022.

5) Kartik Tyagi

Kartik Tyagi is also one of the pacers who could make their India debut in 2022. He has only done well in patches so far but yet, thanks to his potential, the management might try him out at the bigger stage soon.

Just like Avesh, Kartik also has the ability to bowl at both ends of the innings. With two new teams coming in, his opportunities will only increase in the upcoming IPL campaign. If Kartik does well, an India call-up will be around the corner.
