One of the most captivating WWE Superstars that rose up to the main roster from the developmental ranks of NXT was Max Dupri formerly known by his popular gimmick name LA Knight.
Originally signed by WWE in 2013 which ran till August 2014 and wrestled for various promotions such as IMPACT Wrestling and NWA, he resurfaced back to the WWE in February 2021 debuting under the ring name LA Knight.

Are LA Knight and Max Dupri the same person?
His heel persona on the developmental brand was one of the hottest acts in NXT and it lead to the popular star being called up to the main roster. However, his run as LA Knight came to a halt and he was repackaged as Max Dupri, CEO for the faction Maximum Male Models being joined by Mace and Mansoor as his clients and later joined by Maxxine Dupri with both taking over the faction under their wing.
This storyline received negative reviews from fans who were not appreciative of Knight switching to the Max Dupri persona.
For weeks WWE dropped many teasers signaling the return of his former gimmick as the September 9 edition of Smackdown saw Max Dupri telling his crew that ‘they must go through the day to get to the night’ and concluding it with his old catchphrase “yeah.” Last week’s edition saw Dupri mentioning how close they were to “LA” or Los Angeles taking a pause while the crowd gave a huge pop. Since this week’s Smackdown episode, LA Knight has been trending on social media igniting the fire of his Max Dupri bringing his old and popular gimmick back.

Ever since WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H took over the reins as the Head of Creative, we have seen significant changes in the WWE and it can be expected that LA Knight could return to his regime soon to gain back his hot-rod NXT momentum that made him a popular act, on the main roster as well.
