3 players whom CSK might mostly use as ‘Impact Substitution’

The ‘Impact Substitution’ Rule will be a vital tactic for teams in IPL 2023. Teams will use it intelligently and differently. Only after the season kicks off and a few games happen that we will get a sense of the trend. Nevertheless, at the outset, it is likely that teams will use phase-based specialists as a part of this tactic. On that note, here, we look at three players whom CSK might mostly use as ‘Impact Substitution’.

1) Mukesh Choudhary

Mukesh Choudhary had a good outing in IPL 2022. In the absence of Deepak Chahar, the left-arm pacer helped CSK by picking a few wickets.

However, he failed to do well in the other phases of the game. Also, on the field, the youngster was a liability. For these reasons, MS Dhoni might finish his quote in the powerplay and then could substitute him depending on if CSK is batting first or bowling first.

2) Shivam Dube

Shivam Dube is one of the players whom CSK might mostly use as ‘Impact Substitution’. The Mumbai all-rounder played a few memorable knocks last season. He was especially brutal against the spinners.

Since he does not offer much with the ball, Shivam could be treated as a pure batter. He could be an option for CSK when there is an early collapse or if they need some quick run-scoring in the middle overs. Dube will be of use here.

3) Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu is also one of the cricketers who falls on this list. Rayudu offers skills only with the bat and on the field, he is not ranked as an exceptional fielder.

Therefore, it won’t be a surprise if Rayudu is used as an ‘Impact’ player. If CSK is batting first, Rayudu could be used in the XI and after the end of the first innings, someone like Mukesh Choudhary could replace him in the XI.
