2 Players who could replace Shreyas Iyer in the KKR squad for the IPL 2023
With IPL 2023, just a few days away from now, KKR has suffered a major blow as skipper Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the tournament as per the reports. The batter suffered a back injury during the Test series against Australia and it is now learned that he will be out of action for 3-6 months. With the tournament around the corner and the batter unlikely to recover on time, we take a look at 2 Players to replace Shreyas Iyer in the KKR squad for the IPL 2023:
Priyam Garg
Priyam Garag is the one player that could replace Shreyas Iyer in the Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2023. The young batter was part of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2021 and didn’t get the opportunity for most of the games. He was drafted into the team during the fag end of the season and he cashed the opportunity well and it was expected the right-hander would get a longer rope in IPL 2023. But he was released by the team. He scored a few half-centuries in the limited opportunities he got. With Iyer being ruled out, and him being young and aggressive, he could’ve been a perfect fit for KKR. Gary went unsold in the auction and can now be a part of KKR. He has played 14 matches in IPL for far and has scored 133 runs at a strike rate of 119.81.
Baba Indrajith
Tamil Nadu player Baba Indrajith could be another player that could replace Shreyas Iyer in the Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2023. The batter has been a prolific run-getter for his team in the domestic circuit and has been consistently scoring runs for them. He was a part of KKR’s setup but went unsold in this year’s auction as well. Considered as the best player of spin in Tamil Nadu, the right-hander could be the perfect fit for the KKR in place of Iyer. Also, he can keep wickets and also contribute well with the ball as well. With him bringing three dimensions along with him, he can be added as a replacement for the team. He has played 3 IPL games and in those, he has scored 21 runs.
