3 Players MI Might Retain Despite Their Poor Performance In IPL 2022

Mumbai Indians had their worst season in the Indian Premier League history this year as they bagged the tenth position on the final standings with eight points from 14 matches. MI started their season with eight losses on a trot in IPL 2022, but they gained momentum in the second half of the tournament and registered wins over teams like Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals.

Looking at their final position on the points table, any fan can say that most of the players signed by the Mumbai Indians had a bad season. While the Mumbai-based franchise may release some of the underperformers, they might retain the following three names from their IPL 2022 squad.

1. Rohit Sharma will likely retain his place as MI captain despite a disappointing IPL 2022 season

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma had his worst IPL season this year as for the first time in his career, he failed to score a half-century in an IPL innings for the entire tournament. Sharma got off to good starts in some matches, but he lost his wicket before touching the 50-run mark. Since he has been a very important member of the MI team since years, it should not be a surprise if Mumbai retain him for IPL 2023.

2. Kieron Pollard

Another star player who had his worst season this year was Kieron Pollard. He was retained by MI, but he could not impress much with the willow. Despite his dismal show in IPL 2022, Pollard will likely keep his place in the MI squad.

3. MI may retain Tristan Stubbs even though he failed in IPL 2022

Tristan Stubbs seems like a long-term asset for Mumbai Indians. He scored only two runs in two innings of his maiden IPL season, but Stubbs has got the talent, and he could be with MI for the next season if he does well in international cricket this year.
