2 changes India might make for the second ODI against Australia despite the win in the first game

The second ODI between India and Australia will be played on 19th January.

India vs Australia: The ODI series between India and Australia started on a rollicking start. It was a low-scoring thriller that saw bowlers of both sides putting their team into the top position. But it was the brilliance of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja that bailed India out of trouble and won the game for the side. The series now stands at 1-0 and the hosts would be hoping for the same result in the second game as well.

After an entertaining first game, the focus now shifts towards the second ODI between India and Australia that will be played on Sunday (19th March) in Visakhapatnam. Although India won the game but there were a few areas of concerns for them, which they would want to rectify in the second game. With the second ODI just a few days away, let’s take a look at 2 changes India might make for the second ODI against Australia.

Rohit Sharma in place of Ishan Kishan

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will be back for the second ODI against Australia. He missed the first game due to family reasons and will join the team ahead of the second game. He is likely to replace Ishan Kishan in the team and open the innings alongside Shubman Gill. Kishan look off colours in the first game and failed to grab the opportunity. The southpaw scored just 3 runs as he was trapped in Lbw by Marcus Stoinis. With Rohit back in the side, it’s a sure shot that Ishan will sit out.

Umran Malik in place of Shardul Thakur

The second change that India might look to do in the second game against Australia is that they can bring in Umran Malik in place of Shardul Thakur, who bowed just 2 runs in the first game and conceded 12 runs. The pace of Umran can be handy for India on the Visakhapatnam pitch. The fast bowler of late has been doing well for India and has picked wickets in the middle as well. With Thakur being ineffective in the first game, Umran can be a handy choice for the team in the middle.
