Four Indian Players Set To Play In The New Cricket Format Called The Hundred

 As per the latest reports, four Indian cricketers will be a part of the maiden edition of the Hundred. This news came after the initial NOC arrived from BCCI. The apex cricket body in India has issued NOC to four women cricketers, namely Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma and Jemimah Rodriguez to participate in the inaugural edition of the Hundred.

The opening game of the Hundred will bear witness to a clash of titans as Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals collide in London. The tournament was conceived jointly by England and Wales Cricket Board and will be kickstarting on the 12th of July.

Indians to be a part of the Hundred

The tournament has been denominated after its playing format as it will witness a total of 100 balls which will be faced by each team. The men’s and women’s format will be going side by side, breeding an invigorating form of the sport, purely meant to entertain the masses.

BCCI took its due time to contemplate the participation of Indian cricketers in this new and entertaining format of the sport and finally decided to give a No Objection certificate to the aforementioned four cricketers.

The BCCI official was heard saying, “We have given NOC to four players and they are Harmanpreet, Smriti, Jemimah and Deepti. It should be a good experience for these players to go and be part of this new league.”

These four women were also a part of the KIA Super League which is considered an English domestic tournament. During the bilateral series between India and South Africa that ended in a fiasco for India, Smriti Mandhana had quoted that the BCCI and ECB were in close talks about the women players participating in the Hundred.

Though there were talks of a few uncapped Indian cricketers and a few U-23 monikers who could have been a part of the prestigious event, BCCI later decided to give a thumbs up to these four Indian women who have been absolutely scintillating in their cricketing walks of life.
