Cody Rhodes reveals the real reason why he left WWE in the first place

Cody Rhodes has been the heartthrob of WWE for the last two years. Ever since his return to the industry which saw him challenging Roman Reigns for the championship. Even though he lost it at the first attempt, he ensured that he is keeping the story and pursuit alive to clinch the title on the second go in the Showcase of Immortals.

Even though Cody Rhodes continues to tread his kingdom, the equation wasn’t exactly silky smooth for the American Nightmare and his relationship with WWE. Things went bitter to an unimaginable extent after the infamous Stardust gimmick that left the fans angry.

In fact, Rhodes himself pointed out that he was devastated with the gimmick and that was killing him from inside. He recently revealed that it took him a while to realise that it was time for him to get back to business with his alma mater but this came only on the back of some serious brooding time.

Here is what Cody Rhodes had to say about his exit from WWE

As quoted by Wrestling Inc, Rhodes said, “For me, I needed to find a better situation. I was getting worse. Fundamentally worse, mentally worse, promo worse. Every facet of you that needs to be involved, I was getting worse at. And the last thing I wanted to be is a guy who, ‘Oh, he makes it work. Oh, he puts his heart and soul into it.’ No, I’d like to give you more than my heart and soul.. I had to get out. And that’s why it was abrupt how I got out.”

He concluded by saying that he almost walked out of the company, telling them that if they wanted to sue him, they could do that but he was stepping out and no one could stop him. Following that spat, he decided to join AEW and was a part of Tony Khan’s promotion until 2022 when he realized that the time was right for him to come back.
