Chennai Super Kings’ opening batsman, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been in surreal form in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. The IPL 2021 Orange Cap winner got off to a blistering start to this season’s IPL with a surreal 92 against Gujarat Titans in the tournament opener.
Unfortunately, he ended up on the losing side as GT beat CSK by five wickets. In the second game, Ruturaj Gaikwad continued to make good noise with the willow by scoring yet another half-century.
During the game against Lucknow Super Giants, Gaikwad helped CSK get off to a scintillating start. In the process, CSK registered their highest-ever score of 79 runs in the powerplay.

Chennai Super Kings posted 217/7 in their quota of 20 overs as Ruturaj Gaikwad top-scored with 57 off 31 balls including three fours and four sixes to his name at a strike rate of 183.87.
CSK restricted LSG to 205/7 and went on to win the game by 12 runs. After the game, Ruturaj Gaikwad addressed the reporters at the post-match press conference wherein he revealed that Suresh Raina is his inspiration.
Speaking on the same lines, he further added that he wants to be a consistent player for Chennai Super Kings just like Suresh Raina. It is no secret that Suresh Raina is the leading run-getter for CSK in the IPL.
He has played several match-winning knocks for the team when it mattered the most. Moreover, he has operated as a clutch player and has helped the team get out of pressure situations.
Suresh Raina scored 5528 runs in the history of the Indian Premier League including 1 century and 39 fifties to his credit. On the other hand, Ruturaj Gaikwad has played as many as 38 games in the IPL.
Overall, he has scored 1356 runs at an average of 39.88 at a strike rate of 134.88. Notably, he has struck one century and as many as 12 fifties to his name.
