Chris Jericho, known as Y2J during his WWE days, has had an illustrious career that’s spanned multiple wrestling franchises. However, he recently opened up about a close call with suspension due to his in-ring antics that didn’t sit well with Stephanie McMahon.
The incident dates back to Jericho’s feud with DX in 2009 when he was famously hit in the eye by one of DX’s glowsticks, all while riling up the audience with his trash talk.
Although the scene seemed thrilling, it posed real safety concerns, and it was none other than Stephanie McMahon, who was just another wrestler in WWE at the time, wanting to suspend him for the incident.
Fun fact: There is a Chris Jericho/Stephanie McMahon romantic fan fiction that is roughly 3.8 million words in length over 503 chapters, and was written over a period of 12 years from 2004 to 2016.

Jericho handled the situation in his characteristic style. He sent a taped message to his boss, Vince McMahon, Stephanie’s father, and revealed his stance on the matter. Jericho recalled, “I got heat out there. This is my job. This is what I’m here to do. At the end of the night, the babyface beat me. What’s the problem? You’re going to fine and suspend me for getting heat? Bring it on.”
Stephanie McMahon, on her part, has gone on to hold various positions within Corporate WWE and has been involved in numerous storylines, both alongside and against her father, Vince McMahon, and her husband, Triple H, among other WWE superstars.
Where is former WWE Superstar Chris Jericho now?
In the wrestling world, Chris Jericho has continued to make waves, particularly in All Elite Wrestling (AEW). However, his world recently took an unexpected turn with the breakup of his Jericho Appreciation Society, a moment that unfolded painfully in the middle of the ring.
During this emotional breakup, Don Callis, Jericho’s colleague from their WWE days in the ‘nasty nineties,’ called him out on stage and proposed the idea of Jericho joining his new faction. Jericho’s response? “maybe.”
