WWE
World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has undergone a fascinating evolution since its inception in 1953 as the Capitol Wrestling Corporation (CWC), a Northeastern territory of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). Over the years, the promotion went through various transformations, leaving the NWA in the 1960s to become the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) and later rebranding as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1979.

In 2002, due to a legal dispute with the World Wildlife Fund, the WWF became World Wrestling Entertainment. The company shifted its branding in 2011, solely identifying itself as WWE.
Corporate Structure and Ownership:
Originally named Titan Sports, Inc., WWE’s legal journey began in 1980, and it acquired Capitol Wrestling Corporation Ltd. in 1982. The company, under the leadership of Vince McMahon, evolved into World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. in 1999 and eventually into World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. in 2002. In 2023, its legal name was updated to World Wrestling Entertainment, LLC.

As of September 2023, WWE’s majority owner is TKO Group Holdings, a subsidiary of Endeavor Group Holdings. Vince McMahon, the third-generation wrestling promoter, had been the majority owner until he stepped down as chairman and CEO amidst an employee misconduct scandal. McMahon returned as executive chairman after a deal with Endeavor Group Holdings, forming TKO Group Holdings through a merger with Zuffa, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Global Presence and Entertainment Ventures:
WWE has not only conquered the wrestling world but has also ventured into various entertainment fields, including film, football, and diverse business endeavors. With offices in New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Mumbai, Shanghai, Singapore, Dubai, and Munich, the company’s worldwide headquarters are located in Stamford, Connecticut.

With a main roster divided into Raw and SmackDown, along with the developmental roster NXT, WWE reaches over one billion homes worldwide in 30 languages. The organisation pays respect to professional wrestling’s roots in competitive sport and dramatic theatre while acknowledging the staged nature of its shows through its emphasis on sports entertainment.
The company’s history underwent a momentous milestone in 2023 when WWE’s investigation into a possible sale resulted in a merger with Zuffa, becoming TKO Group Holdings with Endeavour holding a controlling stake.
