2 changes England can do for the 5th Test of the Ashes at The Oval.

4th Ashes 2023 Test was washed out due to rain.

Ashes 2023 has lived up to the expectations so far as both the games have been enthralling to watch. England and Australia played a high-quality brand of cricket as both the games went down the wire and there wasn’t any surety about who will win. If it was Australia, who won the first two games, England made a staggering comeback in the third game. Rain too played the part and washed out the fourth game which resulted in Australia retaining the Ashes.

Despite Australia retaining the Ashes, the series still remains alive. England has a fair chance to draw the series and they would be eager to do that. They dominated the visitors in the third game but rain gods didn’t favour them. The next match begins from 27th July and for that would be looking to make some changes. In this piece, we take a look at 2 changes England can do for the 5th Test of Ashes:

Ollie Robinson in place of James Anderson

One of the changes that England might make for the final Test is that they can bring Ollie Robinson in place of James Anderson The veteran pacer looked clueless in the first two games and then was rested for the third game. It was expected that he would make a strong comeback at Manchester but he yet again failed to take wickets. With series on the line for England, they might bring Ollie Robinson who has been their highest wicket-taker since his debut. He missed the last game due to injury and it expected to make a comeback.

Dan Lawrence in place of Stuart Broad

Another change that England might look to do is to bring Dan Lawrence in place of Stuart Broad. The veteran pacer has been England’s best bowler in the series but has played four games on the trot now and with him getting old, the team might look to rest him. In his place, Dan Lawrence might get an opportunity. The all-rounder has done reasonably well in the limited opportunities that he has got and it will also strengthen England’s batting lineup.
