WTC Finals Commentators: As history will be in the making at The Ageas Bowl with India and New Zealand colliding for the grand finale of an enduring World Test Championship that will be unfolding from June 18th to 22nd, ICC is rummaging for the best story-tellers (read it commentators) to amplify the essence of the disparate event.

Former Indian wicket-keeper, Dinesh Karthik and batting icon, Sunil Gavaskar will be the only Indians who will be joining the on-field panel for the apex bout. They will be tagged along by New Zealand’s Simon Doull and erstwhile English captains, Mike Atherton and Nasser Hussain who will be a part of the neutral commentator’s slew.

Going by the latest reports of Cricbuzz, many Indian and New Zealand commentators have backed out from the calling of commentating in this prestigious event given the stringent COVID-19 regulations in place that mandates them to be in quarantine for 10 days to participate in this 5-day extravaganza.

Latest to join the commentary bandwagon is Isha Guha, Ian smith and Craig McMillan from New Zealand. Along with them, MCC president and former Srilankan captain Kumar Sangakkara too joins this elite list.

Despite the lack of confirmation, reports state that Dean Smith who left a significant mark on the 2019 World Cup will also be involved in this glorious affair.

Dinesh Karthik will also be a part of the Hundred and will be the only Indian commentator to do so

Despite a vertiginous decline in his career as a wicket-keeping batsman, Karthik’s commentary stint has been noteworthy off late.

Dinesh Karthik became the only Indian voice to be picked up for the maiden edition of Hundred, a hundred-ball competition that is all set to be convened in England. Karthik will be accompanied by the likes of Stuart Broad, Kevin Pietersen and David Lloyd.

India will have a long stride in UK as they will start their glorious residence through the World Test Championship finale. This will be followed by a month-long showdown at the Hundred and will finally culminate into a blockbuster 5-match Test series between India and England.

Karthik’s involvement in commentary at the WTC final and the Hundred will also sadly negate out his role in the upcoming India Sri Lanka bilateral series that could have been a crucial esplanade for his case of return to the national side.
