Mumbai Indians will have to win their final game against SRH to reach the playoffs of IPL 2023. Along with this win, they would also need the help of other teams to make their road clear to the playoffs. Gujarat Titans must beat RCB in the final encounter if MI has to have any chance to reach the Top 4.

If MI loses the final game, the chances will be extremely bleak. They would then have to hope GT beat RCB massively but that would also not help because RR has a better NRR than MI. Therefore, at the moment, the chances of MI reaching the playoffs are purely dependent on them winning their next game and RCB losing against GT. Even if RCB wins against GT, MI can still have a chance if KKR beats LSG by a small margin.

Mumbai Indians will also have to rely on other teams

MI’s first task will, of course, be to win their game against SRH. Seeing the current form of SRH, this is possible. MI need not try to gain a big NRR with the win because that will put pressure on them which might make them lose the game.

They would then need either LSG or RCB to have lost their final game. All of this rests on the shoulders of KKR and GT. Even KKR must not get a big NRR spike because they would then go ahead of MI and reach the playoffs in case both MI & RCB lose their last match.
