It was a historic game of T20 cricket at the SuperSport Park on Sunday. More than 500 runs were scored in just 40 overs in the game between South Africa and West Indies. The visitors scored 258 runs in the first innings and the hosts managed to chase it. Hence, this triggered a lot of reactions on social media. On that note, here, we take a look at how Twitter reacted as South Africa chase a score of 259 against West Indies in a T20I game.

West Indies did well to win the first T20I. They continued the momentum with a splendid batting performance in the first innings. Thanks to a historic century by Johnson Charles, the two-time T20 World Cup winners were able to post 258 runs in 20 overs. This is the highest score for the squad in the history of T20Is. Kyle Mayers and Romario Shepherd also helped West Indies in this regard.

Chasing this mammoth score, many would have already counted South Africa out. However, the scene was different at the SuperSport Park. Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks were in top form as they scored 100 runs within the powerplay. This broke many records in the process. The southpaw finished his spectacular knock of 100 runs in just 44 balls. Reeza also helped the case with a fine 68-run knock, which came in just 28 balls.

West Indies did make a comeback with some timely wickets. However, that was not enough as the likes of Aiden Markram helped the hosts get to the target.
