The fifth Test match between India and England has been cancelled. The game was due to be held on September 10th at the Emirates Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester. Indian Team had won two games and was leading the series. In this article, we take a look at the Twitter reactions as India vs England 5th Test at Manchester is cancelled.

Yogesh Parmar had tested COVID positive recently

Around the end of the Oval Test, news came out that a few members of the support staff of the Virat Kohli-led side had tested positive for COVID. The list also included Head Coach Ravi Shastri, who could not make it to the stadium on Day 5 at the Oval. However, the concerns intensified after India’s second physio Yogesh Parmar also tested positive.

Although none of the Indian players tested positive, there are reports that there were apprehensions within the Indian camp on going ahead with the Test match. Based on discussions between ECB and BCCI, the match stands cancelled at the moment.

After the stunning game at the Oval, fans were expected a cracker of a game at Old Trafford. However, there is no clarity regarding the series finale at the moment. IPL is set to start within the next ten days and the T20 World Cup will follow. Hence, there is no time to squeeze the game in near future.

Twitter, too, was visibly disappointed with the news. There was confusion initially if the game would take place or not. In one of ECB’s earlier statements, it was said that India had decided to forfeit the game. However, the statement was amended, and the line regarding forfeiture was not included in it.
