2 established nations that could drop out of the Top 10 ICC ODI rankings in the next few years

Cricket is at that phase wherein there could be a massive change in the outlook of the game. The associate nations are in top form and some of the established cricketing nations are struggling to do well. Associate nations will play more and more cricket in the next years. In this regard, it won’t be a surprise if some of the top nations have their end in the Top 10 of ICC’s rankings. Here, we take a look at two established nations that could drop out of the Top 10 ICC ODI rankings in the next few years.

1) Bangladesh – 89

It was back in 2007 when Bangladesh defeated India that many expected the Asian nation to start becoming a heavyweight in world cricket. However, that has still not happened.

Until a few years ago, Bangladesh was actually decent. However, many off-field reasons have left them in this state. Also, the team has been unable to identify some quality youngsters who could take over the baton. They have been poor in the 2023 ODI World Cup. The road looks very hard for them.

2) West Indies – 68

West Indies is one of the established nations that could drop out of the Top 10 ICC ODI rankings in the next few years. Two-time champions, West Indies crashed out of the ODI World Cup 2023 qualifiers earlier this year. For a team that is built on such a rich cricketing legacy, it was a big disappointment to see them go out that way.

There is talent in West Indies but it is not all being directed in one direction. There are too many factors and all of it is not boding well for the side. Currently, they sit at No.10 in the rankings. Some of the associate nations like the Netherlands and Ireland could beat them comfortably in the next few months.
