2 players in MI New York squad whom Mumbai Indians can target for IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians’ owners have also invested in a franchise in the Major League Cricket. Kieron Pollard is leading the team, which consists of many players whom MI have on the payroll in SA20 and ILT20. The franchise can target a few of these players for the next season. The team also has a good domestic core that will help the franchise do well. On that note, here, we take a look at two players in the MI New York squad whom Mumbai Indians can target for IPL 2024.

1) Kagiso Rabada (If PBKS releases him)

Punjab Kings, despite having a solid pace attack, failed to do well in IPL 2023. Yes, Sam Curran is an expensive buy but considering his age and the fact that he can bat, PBKS might still stick with him. Arshdeep Singh and Nathan Ellis are also likely to continue. Rabada could be released because he is inconsistent and also commands a big salary.

In this regard, MI can target him because they might need a lead pacer for this attack. There are a lot of injury issues and someone like Rabada can be in the squad along with Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah, there would be good balance.

2) David Wiese (If KKR releases him)

MI has gone with a lot of youth flavour which might not be the best strategy at all times. In fact, in the past, it was experience that helped them win titles. Therefore, at least for this transition period, they could invest in someone like Wiese, at least for a season.

Of course, KKR must release him for that to happen. The Kolkata-based outfit is likely to release him considering they would need some fast bowling reserves for the next campaign. Hence, Wiese would be a good choice for MI for the next season.
