After failing to do well in the Asia Cup 2022, India will be keener to perform well in the 2022 T20 World Cup. The failure in the last edition has already increased the stakes for the men in blue. Since then, a lot has changed concerning the Indian Team. The new management has identified a core of cricketers, who will take part in the 2022 T20 WC. This set of cricketers does not include some of them who took part in the 2021 T20 WC. On that note, here, we look at four players who played the last edition but is not selected for the Indian Cricket Team Squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

1) Rahul Chahar
Citing the reason that he is a fast leg-spinner, Rahul Chahar was preferred by the selectors ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal. However, the Rajasthan cricketer played only one game in that competition. He went wicketless in that fixture against Namibia.
Since then, Rahul has not played a single T20I for India. While Chahal has reclaimed his place, the likes of Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav have also come into contention. Chahar is now way too down the pecking order. As expected, he has not made the cut.
2) Varun Chakravarthy will not be a part of the Indian squad for T20 World Cup 2022
Varun Chakravarthy was a big disappointment for India in the 2021 T20 WC. Having done well as a mystery spinner in IPL, there were high expectations from him. However, the Tamil Nadu man could not pick a single wicket in the three matches he played.
Like Rahul Chahar, even Varun has not represented India since then. R Ashwin is still in the reckoning and therefore, Varun was not considered. The player would need a fine IPL 2023 to make a comeback to the Indian squad.
3) Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur is one of the players who played the last edition but is not selected for the Indian Cricket Team Squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. The Mumbai cricketer was a last-minute addition to the squad for the event last year. He played two games but was not impressive.
Shardul did feature in one match against West Indies after the 2021 T20 WC. However, since then, he has not been included in the squad. At times, Shardul leaked a lot of runs and in IPL 2022, he was not in great form. For these reasons, he was sidelined from the squad. On the other hand, the likes of Harshal Patel and Arshdeep Singh strengthened their spot in the team. Avesh Khan came into the mix while Deepak Chahar also made a comeback. Therefore, Shardul did not get a chance for the 2022 T20 World Cup.
4) Ravindra Jadeja is not in the Indian squad for T20 World Cup 2022 due to an injury
It will be a freak injury due to which Ravindra Jadeja will miss the 2022 T20 World Cup. It will be a big miss for Team India.
Jadeja was firmly in India’s plans for the event. He had an important role to play as a left-hander. Now, due to his absence, India could have a few issues. The likely resolution might to be trust Axar Patel at No.7 and utilize Suryakumar Yadav’s range against spin to take out the disadvantage of a left-hander’s absence in the middle order. Of course, having Rishabh Pant instead of Dinesh Karthik looks to be the most likely fix.
