3 cities in India that deserve an International Cricket stadium for the benefit of the game

India is a vast nation that has terrific scope for the game of cricket. There is an opportunity for the stakeholders to integrate tourism and cricket, as well. Before that, it needs to be ensured that each fan in India gets an equal opportunity to witness a game live. On the international level, too, BCCI should ensure that cricket is seen as a cultural aspect. On that note, here, we take a look at three cities in India that deserve an International Cricket stadium for the benefit of the game.

1) Varanasi (Discussions happening already as per reports)

A spiritual hub, located in Uttar Pradesh, Varanasi is home to plenty of cricket fans. The region itself gives a different vibe and it would be stunning to have a cricket stadium there.

In fact, as per reports, a discussion to have an international stadium in Varanasi is already on. Yes, the commercial feasibilities will trigger lengthy discussions but then, as mentioned earlier, tourism and cricket can find a common line here!

2) Coimbatore

Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu is one of the cities in India that deserve an International Cricket stadium for the benefit of the game. The closest international stadiums to fans in Coimbatore would be Bengaluru and Chennai. However, to travel to both these cities, at least a night’s travel is required.

There is a strong fanbase for the game in this region, especially when you take a look at the crowds at SNR Ground during TNPL. Fans in neighbouring regions such as Salem and Kerala’s Palakkad can also get a chance in this way. Hence, Coimbatore features on this list.

3) Panaji (Goa)

Yes, cricket in Goa is not yet developed but that means there is potential to be tapped for BCCI. Considering the cultural significance of this region, it does make sense to have a proper cricket stadium here.

Just like in Varanasi’s case, tourism and cricket can find something common here. It would take a lot of time to develop the fanbase. But then, almost every region comes with its own set of challenges.
