The Undertaker has revealed exclusive information about his relationship with The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar. On a recent Inside The Ropes interview with Alex McCarthy, The Phenom revealed his bond with Lesnar, backstage.
The two biggest names in professional wrestling have always been rivals on screen. Lesnar even ended Taker’s legendary undefeated WrestleMania streak, making it 21-1 at WrestleMania 30. The two faced each other twice again in 2015, with the final one being a Hell In A Cell match. They may have always been at each others’ throats on TV, but behind-the-scenes they were anything but that.
In the aforementioned interview, Taker disclosed that he and Brock were always close friends. He explained that when Lesnar wanted to transition into a Football player, it was The Undertaker who encouraged him. According to Taker, others were trying to dissuade Brock from following his dreams but he told him otherwise.
In The Undertaker’s words: “Brock and I have always been close… he wanted to go play football or he wanted to do something else, I gave him my perspective on it…’dude if you don’t do it now, you’re gonna look back one day and you’re gonna have that regret’”. (7:04-7:49)
Are Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker friends in real life?
The Undertaker has praised his old friend and called him a special talent as well. He explained how when Brock returned to WWE after years, he resumed his top position in the company. Taker not only praised Lesnar’s physical prowess but his business acumen as well. His words, “…I think the world of Brock, and I don’t think he gets enough credit for his business acumen and his knowledge of the business.” (7:41-8:20)
Lesnar will collide against the 7 feet plus giant Omos at WrestleMania 39 whereas The Undertaker retired from in-ring action in 2020. They remain close friends in real life.
