BRA vs PER: Brazil will host the penultimate encounter of Copa América as they face off against Peru in the first Semi-Final at Olympic Stadium.
It was a dramatic quarter-final against Chile in a home game for Brazil. After a tough first half with both teams attempting for glory but couldn’t convert. Substitute Lucas Paquetá provided a 1-0 lead for Brazil right after the first half.
However, Brazil was down to ten men, two minutes later, after losing Gabriel Jesus to a red card. Despite all odds, the ten men Brazilian side won and made their way through to the Semi-Finals.
Peru on the other hand had a very eventful quarter-final match against Paraguay. Paraguay started brilliantly with Gustavo Gómez claiming a 1-0 lead only to later equalise it by his own goal. Later, Peruvian striker Gianluca Lapadula took a 2-1 lead, while Gustavo Gómez faced a sending off.
Later, Júnior Alonso equalised the game for Paraguay but lost it yet again to Yoshimar Yotún’s goal, the third one for Peru. Out of the blues, Paraguay produced a beautiful equaliser in the last few minutes of the game, courtesy of Gabriel Ávalos.
In the end, the match was forced into penalties and was won 4-3 by Peru. It will be an exciting semi-final match with Brazil walking in as favourites.
