England wins the 2022 T20 World Cup
Before the game started, it was touted to be a close encounter. Pakistan had a difficult start to the tournament but in the last few games, Babar Azam and his men have been in fine form. They defeated South Africa and New Zealand easily and hence, they were high on confidence. On the other hand, England, too, was in good form and hence, there was a close game on the cards.
Pakistan batted first and posted just 137 runs on the board. The likes of Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan could not fire for the men in green. Sam Curran was in top form for England. With the bat, as usual, Shaheen Afridi took an early wicket and Pakistan smelt victory. England, though, did not wait as they stuck to their high-intent approach. Jos Buttler got a few big hits and this led to a productive powerplay for England despite the loss of wickets. For England, Ben Stokes stepped up with the bat, yet again, in a pressure game. Harry Brook and Moeen Ali too contributed with useful cameos. In the end, England won the game by six wickets.
