Ben Stokes reacts as Asif Ali recreates Carlos Brathwaite 2016 heroics against Afghanistan

Asif Ali hit 4 sixes in one over of Karim Zanat to take Pakistan over the line

If you talk about T20 World Cups and the unforgettable moments in the history of the tournament, Carlos Brathwaite hitting Ben Stokes for 4 consecutive sixes to win West Indies the title in 2016 would probably rank at the top of them all.

The Pakistani middle order batsman Asif Ali somewhat recreated what Stokes had to go through during the night of that final in Kolkata 5 years ago at the hands of Carlos Brathwaite. However, the bowler at the receiving end this time around was Karim Zanat.

Stokes, who is not playing for England at the moment because of his finger injury and mental health issues, seemed to enjoy Asif’s onslaught with the bat and he even wrote a famous phrase “remember the name” tagging Asif Ali on twitter.

“Remember the name” is a phrase that Ian Bishop had used for Carlos Brathwaite when he had hit Stokes for 4 back to back sixes all around the park at Eden Gardens.

Ben Stokes also predicted an England Vs Pakistan final in T20 World Cup 2021

Asif’s knock actually impressed Stokes so much that he went to the extent of saying the final of this T20 World Cup would take place between England and Pakistan.

Both England and Pakistan have won every single game they have played in this tournament so far and since, at this point of time, it seems as if both will top their respective groups, the probability of them meeting in the semi finals is not much, but they can meet in the final on current form.

However, the scenario in group 1 can change any time because England has to play two massive games going forward against Australia and South Africa respectively and if the results of those two games don’t go in their favor, then they might struggle to top their group.

Pakistan, on the other hand, is almost guaranteed to top group 2, as they will go into their next two games against Scotland and Namibia as heavy favorites.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
