Asia Cup 2022: Two changes India might make in the playing XI for the game against Hong Kong

Team India defeated Pakistan by five wickets on Sunday. Although the game at one point seemed a little difficult, a composed knock by Hardik Pandya ensured victory for the Indians. Rohit Sharma’s men will next face Hong Kong on Wednesday. Hong Kong is not an established nation and hence, the management could try out a few experiments. On that note, here, we take a look at two changes India might make in playing XI for the game against Hong Kong in Asia Cup 2022.

1) R Ashwin for Avesh Khan

R Ashwin for Avesh Khan is one of the changes India might make in playing XI for the game against Hong Kong in the Asia Cup 2022. Avesh Khan bowled two overs against Pakistan, conceding 19 runs and picking up one wicket. It was not a great show compared to how the other bowlers performed.

On the other day, Hardik Pandya had a great day both with the bat and the ball. The all-rounder has been doing well with the ball in recent months. Rohit Sharma can rely on Hardik as the third seamer, especially with the Asia Cup happening in UAE, where the track assists the spinners more. Therefore, a spinner like R Ashwin could become useful in the XI. He also adds batting depth at No.8 and hence, he will be a wise inclusion.

2) Rishabh Pant for KL Rahul

KL Rahul played his first T20I of the year on Sunday. It was a forgettable day as he got out for a golden duck. While India will be keen to give more chances to the team’s vice-captain, considering the current scenario, it won’t be a surprise if Rishabh Pant replaces him as the opener.

While Pant offers a left-hand option at the top, his intent is better suited to India’s current approach than Rahul. Yes, Rahul must be backed but if Pant comes good, it will be extremely beneficial for the team.
