It was expected that RCB would release Harshal Patel. Multiple factors such as his form, price and suitability to the Chinnaswamy Stadium played a role in this. It would be a surprise if RCB picks him up again. Hence, they could look at different options to replace him in the auctions. Here, we take a look at three players RCB could sign to replace Harshal Patel for IPL 2024.
1) Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur will go under the hammer in the IPL 2024 Auctions. A few weeks ago, there were reports that RCB approached KKR with a trade deal involving Shardul Thakur and Harshal Patel. It may not be a surprise if RCB goes for Shardul now.
While he could also struggle in Chinnaswamy, he has a better chance at other venues in India. Moreover, he has a knack for picking wickets consistently. Plus, the batting depth could also help the side. Hence, RCB could go hard for Shardul.
2) Chetan Sakariya
Chetan Sakariya is one of the players RCB could sign to replace Harshal Patel for IPL 2024. An injury has kept him out of action for a while now. However, he is likely to be in demand because of his skills which were on display a few seasons ago at Rajasthan.
While he can bowl with the new ball, he also has some variations in the death overs. Chetan has been an intern at RCB before and therefore, the franchise could be interested in their product.
3) Kartik Tyagi
One of the rising all-phase bowlers in India is Kartik Tyagi. He is a fine cricketer and would be in great demand at the auctions in Dubai.
RCB, if their purse permits, would be interested in his services. He can be a good company for Siraj in bowling at every phase of the game. It would be a different approach to replacing Harshal in the team.
