On October 16th, the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup will begin. The tournament will be held until November 13th. Defending champions Australia will host the event. Ahead of the 2021 T20 World Cup, a lot of experts predicted that one of India or England would lift the trophy. Australia was not a consistent side in the T20 format and hence, not many gave them a chance. However, the Aaron Finch-led squad proved the nation’s trophy-winning mentality to go on and win the title.
Since then, the squad has been further strengthened. The likes of David Warner have returned to form while in the bowling department, Josh Hazlewood happens to be one of the best in the format. More importantly, Tim David will play for the team this time around. A big-hitter, he is the perfect ‘finisher’ in this era of T20 cricket.
Further, the tournament would be played at home for the Aussies. This is a massive advantage as they would know the conditions very well. These factors make Australia the firm favorites to win the 2022 T20 World Cup.

One of the subplots of the upcoming event will be to see how the teams that performed poorly in 2021 would go about their business in 2022. Of course, India will be massively followed in Australia. The team could not reach the semis of the previous edition. Hence, they will be under pressure to do well.
West Indies is also one squad that did not perform to its potential in 2021. South Africa would also be itching to reach the semi-finals and Sri Lanka would target to spring a surprise in this edition.
