Asia Cup 2022: Which team has won the tournament most times?

The Asia Cup 2022 will start on August 27th in UAE. Initially, the plan was to have the competition in Sri Lanka. However, due to the economic crisis in the country, UAE had to come in as the host. Also, the upcoming edition will be the Asia Cup happening after four years. Due to the COVID pandemic, the 2020 edition had to be rescheduled to this year. A lot has changed since the last edition. India has won the Asia Cup most times

So far, Asia Cup has happened 14 times. While 13 campaigns have been ODI tournaments, one edition so far, in 2016, has been a T20I competition. The upcoming Asia Cup will be a T20I tournament. Team India has won the competition seven times, making it the most successful team in the history of the tournament.

India won the first edition back in 1984. Then, for three consecutive times, India won the trophy in 1988, 1990 and 1995. India then had to wait for 15 years until 2010 to win its next Asia Cup. In 2016 and 2018, India won the title, thereby making it seven victories till now. Sri Lanka

The men in blue are favourites for the upcoming edition too

For Asia Cup 2022, Rohit Sharma’s India will be the firm favourites. While Sri Lanka right now is not a strong team like it was in the past, teams like Bangladesh and Afghanistan can be inconsistent and could struggle in a multi-nation event. Pakistan is a strong challenge but India has the team to overcome the hurdle.

India has a well-balanced squad with adequate depth. Players such as SuryaKumar Yadav are in great form while seniors such as Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli will also feature in Asia Cup 2022.
