As Sri Lanka and Bangladesh face each other in a knockout game later tonight in the group round of Asia Cup 2022, it’s important to look at their head to head records in the T20 format of the game. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have not played each other a lot in T20 cricket, as they have gone head to head only 12 times so far, but Sri Lanka has a significant lead of 8-4 in those 12 games.
However, one thing that is quite noticeable is that out of the 4 victories that Bangladesh has secured over Sri Lanka, 3 of them have come on away grounds, that is when they have faced Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. But what’s another noticeable factor is that when these two teams have faced each other on neutral grounds, Bangladesh has lost to Sri Lanka twice in two games.
UAE is not an away ground for either Sri Lanka or Bangladesh. It’s a neutral ground and when Bangladesh had faced Sri Lanka the last time in UAE in the T20 World Cup 2021, they had lost from a winning position despite scoring 170 odd runs on a tough surface of Sharjah.
Both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have been beaten in Asia Cup 2022 by Afghanistan
Tonight’s game, however, will be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium and the surface in Dubai doesn’t offer as low bounce as Sharjah. Both teams rely on their world class spinners, but Sri Lanka’s batting looks a bit more power packed as compared to Bangladesh.
Ys take this statement as a positive way and show the cricketing world who we are, time to tighten you shooe and back to field and show them our brand of cricket @OfficialSLC which we used to play, Hope khaled mahmud will be there for for @RSWorldSeries , waiting 🤞🤞😂😂🤭🤭 https://t.co/DRhD7XKUeb

Both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are in this situation because both of them lost to Afghanistan in their first group game in Asia Cup 2022. Sri Lanka’s defeat was by a much bigger margin, but Net Run Rate (NRR) is not in equation anymore because neither of the two teams has got any point on board yet and this game is a straight knockout.
