Ashes 2023: “He’s smiling a little too much,” Ian Healy lashes out at David Warner; Raises calls to leave him out of XI
David Warner’s torrid run in England has continued as he has struggled to score runs in the ongoing Ashes 2023. The southpaw has looked clueless against the moving ball and has getting out for low scores in the series against England.
Stuart Broad, in particular, has troubled him yet again and has made a mockery of him. The pacer removed him 7 times in the Ashes 2019 and has had his man 3 times this match. David Warner has not found answers on how to tackle the pacer and has almost accepted his defeat.
David Warner has managed scores of 36, 66, 25, four and one in this series. His poor performances have been quite a few experts lashing out at him and raising calls to drop him. It remains to be seen if he makes it into the XI for the next game or not.
Ian Healy said that David Warner is smiling too much after his dismissal and he isn’t sure if he would feature in the next game or not. Speaking to Channel 9, he said:
“He’s smiling a little too much. I’m hopeful it’s not a smile and it just looks like a smile. Not only is Broad unsettling him, but worldwide bowlers over the last two years have not had much trouble with him. I worry whether we can pick him again, even in the next Test,”
Ashes 2023: “I think we play him again, but certainly his selection value at the moment is teetering,” Callum Ferguson on David Warner
Callum Ferguson also lashed out at David Warner, saying that he is struggling to pick up length and his selection at the moment is teetering. He said:
“It’s troubling to watch. He’s definitely struggling to pick up the length. He was caught on the crease to a ball that he really should have been committing forward to. I think we play him again, but certainly, his selection value at the moment is teetering.”
