Team India is currently dominating Sri Lanka in the ongoing day-night Test at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer has been one of the better performers for India in this game. In this article, we take a look at how Twitter reacted after Shreyas Iyer scores yet another crucial fifty in the Bengaluru Test.
Shreyas Iyer scores yet another crucial fifty
Coming into this Test series, India was embarking on the transition phase in the batting department. Both Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane were dropped and hence, Hanuma Vihari and Shreyas Iyer got a chance in the XI. While Vihari got a fifty in Mohali, Iyer hit two half-centuries in Bengaluru.
For Iyer, until recently, things were not going in his favour. After coming back from an injury, he hit a roadblock with his form. However, from the New Zealand series where he made his Test debut, Iyer has been in cracking touch. While he has been grabbing all his chances in limited-overs cricket, Iyer is all set to make the No.5 position his own in Tests, thanks to his scintillating displays.
While the other batters struggled on the rank turner in Bengaluru, Iyer made 92 runs in the first innings. He then followed it up with another fine half-century in the second innings. He scored 67 runs in 87 balls and helped India post a massive target for Sri Lanka. Hence, his form has now made the fans forget the likes of Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara.
Twitter reacts to Iyer’s performance
Many have been calling for Shreyas Iyer’s inclusion in the Test team for a long time. Now that he has made his debut and is performing well, there were many who appreciated his performance. In the section below, we take a look at a few reactions in this regard:
Any one missing Pujara Rahane, I'm sure no one. But I'm badly missing Surya Kumar Yadav in this Test side. Could have easily been in this side a lot before. He deserves every bit.. and is in superb form, should be playing all three format

Shreyas Iyer grabbing the opportunity with both the hands. SKY could be his back up at No.6 It means Rahane needs to work really hard to find his place in India's playing XI.

It was the highest order of batsmanship from Iyer in the both innings, the guy made it count every single time. Specially few innings came in high pressure situations in the last few months.

92 and 69 on a pitch where almost everyone looked dreadful except pant. This is by far the best I've felt as a shreyas Iyer fan. Genuinely happy for him, i just hope he gets more opportunities now because, i don't think he has failed when given an opportunity. ❤️ #ShreyasIyer pic.twitter.com/frGBjRCmGk

Scoring runs on rank turners. Two of the best innings you'll ever see on spitting cobra wickets.
