Andy Flower leaves PSL to take part in IPL mega auction, will return after auction

IPL mega auction will take place in Bengaluru and Flower will represent Lucknow there

Andy Flower, the head coach of Multan Sultans, will not be available in the PSL for about 10 days because he is making the journey to India to take part in the IPL mega auction. This is quite extraordinary because Multan Sultans have to play some games within this period, but Flower won’t be there and it will be the assistant coaches who will be looking after the team.

The IPL mega auction is one of the biggest events in world cricket, and Flower is the head coach of one of the two new IPL teams, Lucknow Super Giants. While Lucknow has picked three players from the draft, they still have to build the team from scratch and Flower will have a big role to play in that.

Flower has built a great reputation as a head coach in different franchise leagues around the world as he has produced results almost everywhere. This is the first time that he is going to work in the capacity of a head coach in IPL, as he was the assistant coach at Punjab Kings so far.

Apart from Andy Flower, Lucknow has also hired the services of the former KKR captain Gautam Gambhir who won two IPL titles with KKR. Gambhir will be the mentor of the side and will most likely be there in the auction as well.

The three players that Lucknow has picked from the draft are the former Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul whom Flower has worked with and seen from close quarters, the former Punjab Kings leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi who has also already worked with Flower and the former Delhi Capitals allrounder Marcus Stoinis.

Andy Flower will return to Pakistan after the IPL mega auction is done

Andy Flower, who played a lot of cricket for Zimbabwe, is supposed to return to Pakistan again after the IPL mega auction is done and once the PSL gets over, he will be back to take charge of Lucknow Super Giants as they prepare to go into their first-ever season of the IPL.

I write a bit on cricket and I am more interested in technical and tactical side of the game, rather than bravado.
