The sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League is just around the corner and it is just a few days away from going all guns blazing. Chennai Super Kings will lock horns with Gujarat Titans in the tournament opener on March 31.

The highly-anticipated encounter will kick off at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It will be quite interesting to see which team will come out on top this time around in the league stage.

Gujarat Titans won the maiden IPL title in their debut season in IPL 2022. They got the better of Rajasthan Royals in the final to win the honour. Gujarat Titans won the title under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya.

In the last season, Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore made it to the playoffs of the competition. It remains to be seen which teams will qualify for the playoffs this time.

Steve Smith didn’t put his name in the IPL 2023 mini-auction after going unsold in the IPL 2022 mega-auction. However, he will turn up as a commentator in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, Australia’s talismanic cricketer picked four teams that will make it to the playoffs of the IPL 2023 season. According to him, Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad will qualify for the playoffs.

Chennai Super Kings ran through a disastrous campaign in IPL 2022 edition where they ended up finishing ninth on the IPL 2022 table. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad also failed to qualify for the playoffs as they finished eighth on the points table.

Lucknow Super Giants had a pretty decent campaign in their debut season. Under his captaincy of KL Rahul, Lucknow Super Giants qualified for the playoffs by finishing third on the table. However, they surrendered at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator clash.
