AEW Double Or Nothing 2023 Match Card: Major Match Involving Keith Lee Set To Happen At Upcoming PPV

Keith Lee vs Swerve Strickland is finally happening at AEW Double or Nothing PPV next month after months in the making. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current plan is for them to have a singles match.

The two talented wrestlers were earlier a tag team called Swerve In Your Glory and were even the AEW Tag Team Champions at one point of time. Last December, the team fell apart when Strickland betrayed Lee on an episode of AEW Dynamite.

He and rapper Rick Ross distracted Lee while Parker Boudreaux and Trench attacked him. Strickland himself ended the attack by delivering his Swerve Stomp finishing move through a cinder block on Lee’s chest. Lee was lying on the steel steps when this happened. In spite of this attack happening over four months ago, they haven’t had a one-on-one confrontation yet. Only time they were in a ring against each other was in a tag team match on AEW Rampage in March. Lee and Dustin Rhodes won that match against Strickland and Boudreaux.

However, last week, Swerve cost Keith his AEW Dynamite main event against Chris Jericho. This created their first singles match ever for next month. Dave Meltzer also says that this will only be the “first” of their encounters. This means the two former tag team partners will have multiple matches with each other later.

When is AEW Double or Nothing PPV?

Both Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee are ex WWE talent. They are both former NXT North American Champions and Lee is a one-time NXT Champion as well. They were doing great on NXT but didn’t go anywhere on the main roster and eventually left for AEW. Lee’s wife Mia Yim is still with WWE on the RAW roster.

AEW Double or Nothing PPV emanates from Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, on Sunday, May 28th. The AEW audience will be looking forward to this long time coming match.
