AEW may still have plans for CM Punk to return to the promotion even after all the backstage drama he caused after AEW All Out PPV last year. Punk can still work with Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, the people he brawled with in the locker room.
Fightful Select, the wrestling news source, reported last week that Punk wants to come back to wrestling. They also now report that nothing is finalized yet and things may still change but AEW is willing to give Punk another shot. Their sources point out that AEW Dynamite’s June 21st episode is happening in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois.
They say it will be “interesting”, and “a date to look out for.” They say AEW has plans for Punk to return on that date or around it and they may even announce his return beforehand. His return may even collide with Warner Bros. Discovery’s upfronts on May 17th.

Punk is currently under indefinite suspension after his All Out 2022 backstage brawl with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. Initially all the parties involved were under suspension but The Elite’s suspension was soon lifted. Punk was trying to sort things out via a meeting but The Elite weren’t too keen on meeting him. There is no news of this compromise meeting actually happening or not yet.
When will CM Punk return to AEW?
There were also some plans of CM Punk and Chris Jericho being in a meeting. Jericho had confronted Punk after the brawl and he hasn’t been shy of his criticism for the controversial figure. Therefore there needs to be a possibility of these two veterans co-existing on the same platform.

Fightful has also reported that AEW has a Saturday Night show in the works. It’s a show where a lighter roster will be performing and which can host talent who want work separately. The AEW roster has heard of this show but AEW has clearly not announced anything yet.
Punk can be a part of this show but nothing is concrete yet. Neither his return nor this new show.
