“A Dream Come True Moment”- Twitter Reacts As Umran Malik Receives His Maiden Indian Cap

Umran Malik has become the latest cricketer to receive the prestigious Indian cap. The right-arm fast bowler earned his maiden international cap ahead of the first T20I against Ireland at The Village in Dublin.

Malik made a name for himself with his magnificent performance for SunRisers Hyderabad. The right-arm fast bowler won the Emerging Player of the Season award and also took 14 awards of the Swiggy Instamart Fastest Delivery of the Match home.

BCCI named him in the Indian squad for the home T20I series against the South African cricket team, but Umran Malik warmed the benches in all five matches. The team management stuck with the trio of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, and Harshal Patel.

Today, ahead of the first T20I of the series between the Indian cricket team and the Ireland cricket team, the BCCI posted a couple of images from Dublin, where Umran Malik could be seen receiving his maiden T20I cap.

Ahead of this series, former selector Roger Binny had reckoned that Umran should play a match in this series. Here’s what Binny was quoted as saying by India Today:

โ€œThere is definitely going to be a bigger bunch of fast bowlers coming through now. And he (Umran) should be given a chance straight away because he has proved that he is quick and if you saw him bowl some of the yorkers in the IPL that was brute force. So you cannot keep a youngster out for that long.โ€
