Mumbai Indians showed good improvement from IPL 2024. However, a few holes exist in the setup. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three negatives for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025.
1) Lack of a proper third Indian pacer
Ashwani Kumar or S Raju did not have a defining season for the Mumbai Indians. Especially since Deepak Chahar has fitness issues, MI would have liked the rise of a third Indian pacer. However, MI could not make that development. They could now target some experienced Indian pacers like Navdeep Saini in the next auctions.
2) No development of any Indian keeper is one of the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025
Both KL Shrijith and Robin Minz did not play a lot of games. MI must have tried one of them for a longer stint. This would help the side in the long run, especially when Ryan Rickelton is not available or is not in good form.
3) The batting order is still not settled
Mumbai Indians will still be confused as to what their ideal batting order would be for IPL 2026. Tilak Verma usually played out of position and so did Naman Dhir. While both have done well in their new roles, they would prefer to have a gig at the top of the order.
