Mumbai Indians is a team that targets popular players for the team. They did so in the recent auctions, as well. Here, we take a look at the list of three famous players Mumbai Indians targeted but could not sign in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) Jofra Archer
Jofra Archer was the subject of a bidding war between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals. The latter team won the race.
Jofra did play for MI a few seasons ago. In his current form, he would have been a top asset for Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede.
2) Mitchell Starc was targeted by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2025
Mitchell Starc is one of the famous players Mumbai Indians targeted but could not sign in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. Of course, he was in the plans for MI to form a superb bowling combination for the side.
If MI had somehow got Starc, the league would have had an exciting new-ball pair in Bumrah and Starc. However, Delhi Capitals were too much interested in Starc and hence, MI could not progress further.
3) Josh Hazlewood
Josh Hazlewood could not play in IPL 2024. While many expected the demand to go down, Josh was actually a hot property at the auctions.
Mumbai Indians were rightfully interested in his services. He would have been a fine choice as Bumrah’s partner. Nevertheless, MI got Trent Boult and RCB will have their bowling attack led by the Aussie.
