IPL 2025 Mega Auctions will take place on November 24th and November 25th. The focus will be on the Indian cricketers. Some of the foreign players will also get a good amount at the event. The highest base price is INR 2 Crores. A few overseas cricketers might have over-priced themselves. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three foreigners with a base price of INR 2 Cr who could get unsold in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions.
1) David Warner
Yes, he is an IPL legend but it appears that his time in the competition might just be over. Last season’s poor show was probably the nail in the coffin.
Now, he is a retired cricketer and he is not active in major T20 leagues. Teams will surely want a younger overseas batter in the team and hence, Warner might not be in demand.
2) Nathan Lyon
Nathan Lyon is one of the foreigners with base price INR 2 Cr who could get unsold in IPL 2025 Mega Auctions. It is surprising that Nathan Lyon has got himself featured in the highest base price. He hardly plays T20s and has never played in the IPL.
It is inevitable that he will not find any bidder at the auctions. Now, hardly any team invests in a specialist overseas spinner unless there is a mystery element in the player. Hence, there is no chance for Lyon.
3) Matt Henry
Last season, Matt Henry came in as a replacement player at LSG. However, he could not be at his best and that could have an impact on his prospects for the next campaign.
Now that he has a high base price, Matt Henry might go unsold. Teams would rather invest in a T20 specialist and someone who will surely be available for the full season. Hence, the Kiwi is on this list.
