Nowadays, players retire from international cricket to be a part of T20 leagues. The financial security that these leagues offer is better in value in comparison to the commitment that needs to be offered while playing for the country. However, not all retired cricketers tend to do well. Some of them struggle and later do not find demand in popular leagues. They are then restricted to some of the Tier 2 leagues. However, some retired players do well continiously. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three retired players who did extremely well in the Hundred 2024.
1) Kieron Pollard
Pollard scored runs at a strike rate above 150. His average was also decent considering the batting position he comes in at. Not to forget, whenever possible, he also helped his team with the ball and also with the field.
Against Rashid Khan in a game, he hit five sixes in an over. That was key for his team at that point. Although he has retired, he has been doing well in various leagues. This is good to see from the West Indian legend.
2) Alex Hales
Alex Hales is one of the retired players who did extremely well in the Hundred 2024. The recently retired cricketer scored 208 runs in the Hundred 2024.
His strike rate was 130. For a player known for his aggressive approach, a better striking rate was expected. Anyways, with Tom Banton striking well, Alex Hales did the job well alongside him.
3) David Willey
At an economy of 6.50, David Willey picked up 8 wickets in the recently concluded competition. These are fine stats for a bowler who mainly bowls in the powerplay.
Powerplay is a key factor for teams to win games. If you do not allow the batters to get past you, the game will be in your control. Willey did well in this regard.
