Mumbai Indians may not release Hardik Pandya after all the drama that happened due to the trade before IPL 2024. However, it does not make sense for an Indian T20I captain to not be a skipper in the IPL. Suryakumar Yadav himself would want to establish an IPL legacy and that can happen by being a skipper. Hardik Pandya is unlikely to give away his captaincy considering he has also lost Indian captaincy. Hence, SKY could actually consider going to a different franchise and becoming a captain. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two franchises which could target Suryakumar Yadav for IPL 2025 if he wants captaincy.
1) Royal Challengers Bengaluru
RCB is one of the biggest franchises in IPL. To become the skipper of this unit is a massive accomplishment. If Suryakumar Yadav can get this opportunity, there would be nothing better than that. For RCB, as well, there would be no better option than the best T20 batter at the moment.
Also, captaining RCB is a big challenge. They are yet to win a trophy. If SKY can make it happen, he will go and form a place for himself not only in the RCB folklore but also in IPL folklore.
2) Lucknow Super Giants
LSG is one of the franchises which could target Suryakumar Yadav for IPL 2025 if he wants captaincy. LSG is likely to release KL Rahul. Hence, there will be a new captain needed for the franchise.
SKY can choose this side, as well. They have been doing well ever since they arrived in IPL apart from IPL 2024. The team has a strong core and good management. The EKANA pitch would also help SKY’s batting strengths. If he has a good set of spinners, he can do well as a captain, too.
