The absence of Phil Salt is a big blow for KKR in the further stages of IPL 2024. Salt had been in stunning form and forged a wonderful opening combination with Sunil Narine. Now, KKR will have to find a suitable replacement for him for the next few games. It will also be interesting to see if they would tinker with their batting combination to achieve the best possible attack. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of two players who can replace Phil Salt for KKR in the IPL 2024 Playoffs.
1) Rahmanullah Gurbaz
Rahmanullah Gurbaz is obviously the first-choice replacement for Phil Salt. The Afghan was with the squad last year, as well. He is a talented cricketer and would be a fine wicket-keeper for KKR.
However, KKR‘s problem will be if Gurbaz can replicate Salt’s impact at the top of the order. Salt’s performances have also rubbed off the other teammates, which gave rise to a good batting performance, so far. If Gurbaz can also do that, KKR will do well in the playoffs.
2) Sherfane Rutherford
The West Indian batter is one of the players who can replace Phil Salt for KKR in the IPL 2024 Playoffs. The left-hander was one of the surprisee signings by KKR at the auctions. He is a power-hitter and KKR might actually consider him in the playing XI.
If that happens, KKR will also have to find a way to include KS Bharat in the playing XI as the wicket-keeper. That could be a tough ask because the other Indian batters in the team have actually been in decent form. However, if Rutherford clicks, KKR’s batting unit will become further dangerous. Like with the West Indian cricketers, they have it in them to take the game away from the opposition within the space of a few deliveries.
