Before an IPL season starts, usually, the predicted playing XIs are a bit common. We expect some players to feature after analysing the squad. However, the teams have their own views because of the practice sessions they have. Hence, when we actually come to the campaign, some players are not even preferred in the XI. On that note, here, we take a look at three talented Indian-capped youngsters who were dropped for the first set of matches in IPL 2024.

1) Prithvi Shaw – Delhi Capitals

It was a shock that Prithvi Shaw did not feature for DC in their first game against the Punjab Kings. Instead, the team went in with four overseas batters while it was actually the bowling department that needed some assistance from the foreign players.

While there were reports that they would release him before the auctions, DC showed support by retaining the player. Prithvi is a talented cricketer and must be backed more. Hence, it was a surprise to see him not even on the bench.

Washington Sundar could be having an injury issue but there is no clarity regarding the same. If it is not an injury problem, then his non-involvement is a problem.
