As per reports, after playing in the Ranji Trophy final, Shreyas Iyer’s back issues have come up again. With this, he is likely to miss a few games in the upcoming season of IPL 2024. On that note, here, we take a look at the list of three players who can replace Shreyas Iyer for the first few games of IPL 2024.
1) Manish Pandey
Manish Pandey was one of the last-minute signings for KKR at IPL 2024 Auctions. However, with Shreyas unlikely to play a few games, this signing seems to be a blessing in disguise.
Yes, Manish may not be in the best form but he is returning to a franchise where he played his best cricket. He could get a chance in the top order and that could help him get back his old form.
2) KS Bharat
With Phil Salt having arrived as the replacement for Jason Roy, KS Bharat would have been not in the equation. However, with Shreyas Iyer not in the playing XI, KS Bharat could get a few opportunities.
At RCB, in a few games, he did well against spin. KKR will hope that Bharat can do that for the franchise. For the player, it is an important phase because currently, a lot could depend for him on this stint at KKR.
3) Ramandeep Singh
Ramandeep Singh is one of the players who can replace Shreyas Iyer for the first few games of IPL 2024. He is more of an all-rounder and could play in the lower middle order. However, KKR could have different ideas on how to use him.
In the past, we have seen Gautam Gambhir experiment a lot when it comes to batting positions. Hence, it might not be a surprise if he could see him up the order. That said, it is very unlikely but we cannot rule it out completely.
